Call For Submissions May 12, 2017

Here are this week’s call for submissions. If you wish to notify me of future calls, email me at admit@angieswordservice.com

Red Room Magazine – If you love to write horror, Red Room is the mag to submit to! This is a new magazine from Comet Press and is making its debut this September/October. Deadline is July 1, 2017. Their call is as follows:

Red Room Magazine focuses on publishing dark, disturbing, extreme horror and hardcore, dark crime. We want stories that are well plotted, and not just gore for gore’s sake, although we think gore is a good thing (and encouraged, along with blasphemy, subversive subject matter, graphic violence and language, etc). Anything goes except kiddie porn, of course.

They are looking for up to 4000 words and pay is at $.03/word. They are flexible on the word count but the max payout is $120. They will also allow you to send up to two submissions.

After Hour Happy Hour – this online journal looks for the topics that people don’t usually talk about or taking everyday objects and situations and presenting them in a new way. There is no deadline as they are always looking for work. Works they are looking for are:

  • Poems – up to 5, any length
  • Flash Fiction – up to 1,000 words
  • Short Fiction – 1,000 to 6,000 words
  • Creative Non-Fiction- 1,000 to 6,000 words
  • Visual Art

This summer, The Remembered Arts Journal will be exploring the art of thirst. Glass Poetry Press – The theme is Tundras and the GPP is looking for poems that take us to the place of the Tundras. Submissions are accepted until May 31, 2017 and publication will be released in September 2017, They are looking for 3-5 poems from each writer, any length and any style, all previously unpublished.
